PURPLE PISTIL BEER RELEASE

December 28 4:00 pm - December 25 5:00 pm

Purple Pistil is a Belgian Triple made with saffron, honey, and muscat grape juice. Beginning with a burst of saffron, followed by rich white wine notes, it finishes with sparks of honey, orange blossoms and a warm boozy glow. Like the person who inspired this brew, it is everything extra in all the best ways.

Longtime friend to the brewery, Adam Rohrman, could be larger than life. He had the biggest laugh, the best Pittsburgh accent (YINZ!), was an incredible photographer/videographer, and was just the most fun, goofy, loveable person. We laughed and cried together a lot, and as many of you know, we lost him far too young a few years ago; ever since, we’ve wanted to honor his memory by recreating his favorite beer again.
Around the first year that 7venth opened, Adam decided to take a year off of drinking, but he wanted the first beer that he had after his hiatus to be a 7venth Sun beer that he brewed with us. Inspired by his love of Midas Touch, we created a Belgian Tripel brewed with honey, muscat grape juice, & saffron, and called it “Purple Pistil.” He was so excited, he got artwork made for the label that eventually he had tattooed on his tricep.
Adam had been making Halloween videos with 7venth Sun since its inception, and if you have ever seen one, you know how much fun we had making them. Half the time, I think the videos were more for all our entertainment than any kind of actual promotion—and they make up some of my favorite memories with Adam.
So on the second brewing of “Purple Pistil,” of course he had to make a video, and in true Adam fashion, it was quite risqué… to the point I deemed it not safe for work—Haha! He completely understood, and so the business never officially posted it (but you can still find it out there on the interwebs if you are so inclined).
Sunday, December 28th, would have been his 49th birthday.  That day we will crack open the last bottle of “Purple Pistil” from Batch 2 (Brewed in 2013) in honor of Adam, and we will also be enjoying some of the new batch along with it. If you knew and loved him as we did, I hope you’ll join and share your favorite and most fun Adam stories.
